Details:
In 2019, the American Hip Institute (AHI) was a newly formed orthopedic practice requiring new medical office space for exam rooms, office and support space, a rehab gym, and an in-house research hub. The project had an aggressive design and construction schedule to allow AHI to meet their new lease agreements. To shorten the design and construction schedule, Jensen & Halstead suggesting using a demountable wall system (DIRTT or Steelcase) instead of a ‘traditional” construction approach. After coordinating visits with AHI at the Merchandise Mart to compare the two manufacturers, AHI selected DIRTT. While the cost of using DIRTT was slightly higher than “traditional” construction, they were able to cut 4 weeks from the construction schedule. We worked closely with AHI, the DIRTT design and installation team, and the general contractor during both the design phase and construction phase to provide for a seamless design and installation. Aside from the X-Ray Room, the suite demising walls, and the Electrical Room, the 12,000 SF space was space was completed as a DIRTT system. At the time, it was one of the largest completed Health Care projects DIRTT had done in Chicago.
